Built on the front-wheel-drive-based FAAR architecture it shares with the 1 Series and X1/X2, the F44 2 Series Gran Coupe is a compact four-door fastback that gave the 2 Series badge a practical sedan-coupe body. In US 228i xDrive form, the transversely mounted B48 2.0-liter turbo inline-four makes 241 horsepower and 295 lb-ft, driving all four wheels through an 8-speed Aisin automatic for a roughly 5.1-second 0-60 mph run. EPA rates it at 27 mpg combined, and BMW limits top speed to 155 mph. The 2024 model year was the final year for this first-generation Gran Coupe before the F74 second generation arrived for 2025.
