The BMW i5 xDrive40 is the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version of the electric G60 5 Series, slotting between the rear-drive eDrive40 and the M60 xDrive. Two excited-synchronous motors combine for 389 hp (290 kW) and 435 lb-ft, drawing on the same 81.2-kWh usable (84.3-kWh gross) battery as the rest of the i5 line; BMW quotes 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds and the US car is electronically limited to 130 mph. The EPA rates the 19-inch-wheel configuration at 266 miles of range and 93 MPGe combined, and the i5 charges at up to 205 kW DC. Added to the BMW i5 lineup in early 2024 and sold in the US as a 2025 model year (MSRP $70,100), it trades a slice of the eDrive40's range for foul-weather traction and stronger acceleration.
