Sitting just below the full M2 in the G42 2 Series Coupe range, the M240i xDrive is the M Performance variant built on BMW's rear-wheel-drive CLAR architecture with a roughly 50:50 weight distribution. Power comes from the B58 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, rated at 382 hp in the US market, driving all four wheels through a ZF eight-speed Steptronic automatic and the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Unlike its F22 predecessor, the second-generation 2 Series Coupe is offered only as a fixed-roof coupe with no manual-transmission or convertible option. It shares much of its mechanical hardware and engine lineup with the G20 3 Series and G22 4 Series.
